Tell Her This – Del Amitri

Del Amitri - Twisted - Tell Her This

This is not a new song, but I still really like it. It is a sweet but slow song; it never really builds to anything. But that’s okay, it doesn’t really need to. I like the guitar intro that continues throughout. It’s a very relatable song, everyone has made a mistake with someone they love and try to apologise and make up. It seems like he is having an easier time talking to the audience than the women he is in love with. Which everyone can also relate to, sometimes it’s hard to admit your true feelings.

Del Amitri are a British pop-rock guitar band, formed in Scotland in 1980. “Tell Her This” is on the 1995 album Twisted, with the top ten US hit “Roll to Me.” I bought the CD for the top ten hit, but at the time thought the rest of the album was just okay. Then in college I pulled the CD out and gave it another listen, it had a bigger impact on me the second time around. In addition to “Tell Her This” I would also recommend giving “Driving with the Brakes On” a listen.

P.S. Sorry about the video, it’s a little weird. Not weird in a cool way, like with puppets or anything. Weird in that the lead singer kind of looks like a sappy wolverine. But don’t hold that against the song. Please!
